I race gravel on an international level as a sponsored athlete and am a sports science student. In my coaching practice I focus on you as a human first.
As an athlete training and racing myself I know how hard a season can be on both your physical and mental state. I use this knowledge to guide you to a sustainable and successful approach to training, making use of up to date evidence based training sessions, nutrition advice, HRV to make recovery trends actionable and 1 to 1 contact with you.
Growing up, I was always doing sports, but never enjoyed them all that much. I realized during my teens that I have a problem with my achilles and tendons in my lower legs, which kept me from being able to run well and caused inflammation, if I tried to.
Cycling was the first sport that showed me that I have a talent for exercise, because it didn't cause any issues for me physically. But my lack of experience with sports as a kid, forced me to develop a feeling for my body which I never had before. I had to learn how it feels when my body is stressed from exercise, when it's recovering and unfortunately also when it's overtrained.
I had to acquire all of that knowledge myself, with so much presence of mind as an adult, making my connection with my body even more visceral and intense.
As a result of my own racing and training I started studying sports science and am using that knowledge, combined with my own experiences, to help you gain such a connection with your own body and to reach your goals without your physical and mental health suffering.
Periodized, polarized and specific training are at the core of my approach, also integrating weight training.
I utilize HRV in combination with 1 on 1 contact with you, to make recovery trends visible and actionable and work together with you to make the most out of your personal availability.
I coach cyclists, road and gravel, with a focus on long distance (+150mi) racing.
