In the fitness industry since she was 18, Lauren has always questioned why something is done. Whether it was in her schooling or in her own athletic endeavors, she wants to understand the mechanisms that make the body move and how we improve them. She has used that curiosity in all of her career from Corporate Wellness to Campus Recreation and Wellness. In 2010 she opened BASE Tri Fitness, an endurance coaching company.
Lauren was a competitive swimmer in her youth and played ice hockey for 10 years. In college, she developed debilitating depression and an eating disorder. During the healing process she discovered running as a way to 'get out of bed' and eventually it turned into trying her hand at triathlon. Now 10 years later she is a top age group athlete, 10 x Ironman, endurance coach, and philanthropist who believes that just because you're born with certain genes doesn't dictate your athletic potential.
