My name is Laura Wakeham. I work alongside Pete Wilby at PeteWilbyTriathlon, coaching athletes here on Training Peaks, on poolside and on the beach.
Our mission is to coach with a holistic perspective that helps people to excel. To summarise our philosophy, Pete has designed the LENS acronym (Life, Endurance Training, Nutrition and Strength). This is how we - and we hope you will too - view training and coaching.
I love triathlon training and competition. I love where triathlon takes me- across Britain and all over the world, and the people I meet along the way. Not only does triathlon training offer me structure in life, it’s a lot of fun and a great opportunity to expend lots of energy!
I have had the opportunity to compete at ETU and ITU events in sprint and olympic distances. More recently I have successfully podiumed in my age group at middle distance. I have lived experience of the importance of diet and nutrition for female triathletes. For over ten years I have balanced work and studies with a full training schedule. Whilst I am fairly new to coaching, I have helped Pete with social media and coaching the junior section for some time. Now as a British Triathlon and Training Peaks coach myself, my aim is to continue with PeteWilbyTriathlon to coach with a holistic perspective to help people excel by considering the stresses and strains of life when prescribing training.
As a team of coaches, we believe that triathlon and open water swimming are great sports that should be accessible to everyone. We use online coaching through Training Peaks to help athletes - locally and abroad - to excel.
