I am a level 3 British Triathlon coach and also work for British Triathlon, training new coaches. I have coached for 30 years and have succeeded in training complete beginners to finish their first triathlon, right up to a European champion at the European Long course championships.
I come from a sports science background but also believe sport should be fun so I deliver plans that contain sessions with variety and motivational elements.I am always happy to be contacted and assist athletes.
I have always enjoyed doing sport. Swimming was the first sport I really started to do competitively but, after winning a few running races , I switched to athletics. I was lucky enough to be guided by 2 excellent coaches, including joining Mike Smiths renowned training group of Roger Black, Kris Akabusi, Iwan Thomas and Todd Bennett. Despite national success, a series of injuries forced me to switch my attention to rugby which I played for over 20 years. After some rugby injuries I returned to running, completing the London Marathon twice before finding more enjoyment in Triathlon.
I have now completed numerous sprint and Olympic triathlons. I have also completed 4 Iron distance races.
I started coaching in 1991. I have been a fitness coach, self defence coach, rugby coach, running coach and triathlon coach.
One of my proudest achievements is spending 12 months in Kosovo helping develop the Police physical training by writing the syllabus and training coaches.
I've been a club head coach and have coached complete beginners to European gold medalists. I also work for British Triathlon delivering coaching courses for level 1 and 2 coaches. More recently I have also been delivering safeguarding coaching for UKcoaching.
My coaching philosophy is that sport should be enjoyable and be part of your life rather than take over your life. With my coaching I deliver balanced plans to fit round your life commitments and deliver great results with a minimum of time commitment.
