I am a level 3 British Triathlon coach and also work for British Triathlon, training new coaches and I am director of British Triathlon. I have coached for 35 years and have trained complete beginners to finish their first triathlon, up to a European and World age group champions.
I come from a sports science background but also believe sport should be fun so deliver plans that contain sessions with variety and motivational elements.I am always happy to be contacted and assist athletes.
I have always enjoyed doing sport. Swimming was the first sport I really started to do competitively but, after winning a few running races , I switched to athletics. I was lucky enough to be guided by 2 excellent coaches, including joining a renowned national sprint squad. Despite national success, I switched my attention to rugby which I played for over 20 years. After some rugby injuries I returned to running, completing the London Marathon twice before finding more enjoyment in Triathlon.
I have now completed numerous sprint and Olympic middle and full distance triathlons.
I started coaching in 1991. I have been a fitness coach, self defence coach, rugby coach, running coach and triathlon coach.
One of my proudest achievements is spending 12 months in Kosovo helping develop coaches after the conflict ot improve health, wellbeing and performance.
I've been a club head coach and I am currently head coach and advisor to Oxford University tri club. I have coached complete beginners to European and world gold medalists. I have coached numerous GB age group athletes but I also take great pleasure in coaching people who are complete beginners. I work for British Triathlon delivering all levels of coaching courses.
My coaching philosophy is that sport should be enjoyable and be part of your life rather than take over your life. With my coaching I deliver balanced plans to fit round your life commitments and deliver great results with a minimum of time commitment.
