Coach Bio

With almost 20 years of experience racing endurance sports, I can offer coaching services across multiple sports and disciplines. I'm best equipped to coach runners and endurance cyclists, because that's what I have experience doing myself.
Most recently, my personal focus has been gravel races (mostly >100mi) and XC MTB, so I'm especially excited to take on athletes from these disciplines. I also have experience with strength training, and I recommend it to most of my athletes.

Born & raised in NE Ohio, I rode dirt bikes and played soccer as a kid. Naturally gifted in the STEM fields, I earned a BS in Biology from Pitt. Seeking performance gains on the soccer pitch during college, I started running. Then, one winter, I whimsically entered a snowy trail 10k which completely changed my feelings about running: I loved it! I started running more trail races, then, after graduating, I continued training and competing; I had the bug. Over the following years, I finished a lot of trail races up to 50km in length.

Going into 2020, I'd been a bike commuter for years, but never had the urge to ride far. With more time on my hands, I started to venture out, and before long it was plain to see my bike was a limiting factor. So I bought my first drop-bar bike, then, in '22 I entered my first race with it. As a trail runner, naturally I entered a gravel race. I was hooked immediately. That year I finished Ned Gravel, SBT GRVL & BWR Utah.

My '23-'25 seasons included more gravel races than I can mention here, but among my proudest accomplishments, I hold my 2x Ned Gravel Ultra finishes, '24 Wyo131 finish, and '24 Grassroots Gravel AG podium.

In late summer '25 I took up racing MTB, finishing the Banana Belt race (the day after racing Salida 76 gravel). I look forward to shifting my primary focus as an athlete to MTB in '26.

I've coached athletes ranging from a runner training for their first marathon to cyclists training for huge stage races like HMR.
