Jon’s passion is helping his clients achieve their goals through training plans, consulting and education. A major drive for Jon is to help athletes learn on their way to truly understand what makes them work as an athlete.
As an athlete, Jon rode in Italy as an U23 before moving on to running training camps in Italy and then worked as a coach for British Cycling from 2006 to 2011. Jon then returned to university to achieve academic goals and to further his knowledge and understanding of the human body and how it performs under stress in exercise.
Jon has a Master of Research in Exercise Science, Northumbria University, a BSc (hons) Sports Science, Sunderland University and a FdSc Applied Sports Coaching Science, Leeds Metropolitan University.
Jon published his EHI funded MRes thesis, 'European Journal of Applied Physiology'. ‘The effect of hot and cold drinks on thermoregulation, perception, and performance: the role of the gut in thermoreception’. The topic looked at phys impact, sweat rate and perception of drink temps on cycling in the heat. Jon has also presented research at ‘World Congress of Cycling Science (WCCS)‘ Leeds (2014). This looked at how bike fit can influence a key performance indictor when cycling, ‘The Influence of Positional Biomechanics on Gross Efficiency in Cycling’.
