Joe Friel began coaching endurance athletes in 1980. His clients have included novice-to-elite amateur and professional road cyclists, mountain bikers, triathletes, duathletes, and runners. He holds a masters degree in exercise science. He is also the past Chairman of the USA Triathlon National Coaching Commission which he helped to found.
