Prior to triathlon, I have always been an active sports person participating at the highest levels including Representative kickboxing in South Africa, junior development cricketer, junior state rugby player and later, National super Moto representation in Australia My entry into triathlon was somewhat by accident. During a State Super Moto Championship race I was involved in an accident that left me in doubt of ever being able to apply full pressure to my right leg ever again. It was during one of my rehab sessions that someone recommended that I give an Ironman a go. Later the following year - 10 Olympic distance triathlons later and three qualifying races and I had qualified for Beijing 2011 OD World Championships.
