As an Information Technology executive, I tend to look at the world in logical patterns. However, performance training is a blend of science and art (with a sliding ratio that changes from day to day). I only want to work with athletes that are looking for assistance with specific, experiential goals. For example, in March 2017 I am personally targeting the Grand Traverse (ski race from Crested Butte to Aspen). I'll use bike races and other events to get there, but that is my specific goal.
As an avid recreational athlete, I've participated in a wide variety of sports and training regimens. I consider myself a lab rat for testing everything from plyometric workouts to cycling intervals to nutrition protocols (aka diets). The important thing about working with an athlete is to find out what works for them rather than trying to apply my thoughts, perceptions, biases, or philosophies. Everyone is unique and reacts to training stimulous differently.
There's no such thing as failure. Just a variety of learning opportunities.
