Garrick Valverde is a category one racer living in Lawrence, Kansas. Garrick has been racing for over a decade, beginning at just eleven years old. He has a strong sense of the challenges facing junior riders. He himself competed in over a dozen junior national events, surfing both the highs and lows of the sport. Garrick also understands the tribulations of “starting over”. After taking a 4-year hiatus from racing, he returned to cycling in 2013 and went from a category three to category one in just over a season. He has since enjoyed striving to improve each year as both a racer and a student of the sport.

Currently an English student at the University of Kansas, Garrick enjoys picking apart the intricacies of racing and training through writing.
