Hunter Ames is the founder of FTK Endurance & Performance Coaching (For The King). His coaching combines exercise science with real-world endurance experience to help athletes train with purpose, structure, and long-term sustainability.
Hunter earned his degree in Exercise Science from Hope College and will be pursuing a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology at Baylor University. His academic interests focus on endurance performance, metabolism, and applied sport science, with the goal of translating research into practical training for athletes.
As an Ironman finisher, Hunter understands the physical and mental commitment required for endurance sports. His coaching philosophy centers on building a strong aerobic foundation, progressive overload, and consistency over time. Rather than chasing quick results, his programs emphasize durability, long-term development, and arriving prepared on race day.
Through FTK Coaching, Hunter provides structured training plans for runners, triathletes, and endurance athletes preparing for events such as half marathons, marathons, and other endurance challenges.
FTK stands for “For The King,” reflecting the belief that training is about more than performance. It is about stewarding the body well, developing discipline, and pursuing excellence in every area of life.
