I started playing team sports in high school and loved competition and the pure fun of playing. This was also when I first saw a direct correlation between dedicated practice and an improvement in my physical and mental fitness that enhanced not only my athleticism, but also my everyday life. During college, I discovered long distance cycling with my dad, and my love of all things cycling was cemented. By the early 90’s, I was racing road and mountain bikes.
Decades later, I still love riding and racing bikes, and I’m fortunate to have made a career out of my passion. I coach athletes of all ages and abilities, from rec riders to dedicated amateurs and college athletes. I’m currently a Cat 1 MTB racer and have recent finishes at some of the toughest races, including the Leadville 100, Austin Rattler, Grand Junction Off-Road, among others.
My approach to coaching is holistic and goes beyond standard workouts and training plans. I take the time to get to know each client, to learn about their cycling goals and their life outside of cycling. It is important to understand both so that we can examine how all aspects of their life affect their goals and training. Work/life stress, nutrition, and sleep quality all greatly influence performance. By taking the whole person into account, I design targeted training plans with each workout optimized to make the best use of an athlete's available training time in order to help them reach their goals.
