It can give you a balance perspective and expert guidance. Coaching running is the science of training the bodies energy systems, not simply running more or faster. I was born into the sport of running and track and field. Running was a family tradition beginning with my father in the 1950’s. A world class marathoner, Rene Doiron posted a personal best of 2:23 and 17th place in the Boston Marathon, in a time before modern running shoes existed. I followed in my brothers footsteps and became the best high school 2 miler(19:15) in the State and New England. My school record still stands after 40 years. I continued my career at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, becoming a top performer not only at the school but in the region, achieving All-New England honors multiple times. 35 years later my 14:09 5k is still the 3rd all-time for UMASS. I have a M.ED in Athletic Administration, and taught physical education. I coached at Westfield State University. The only coach in team history to bring a XC team to the NCAA championships. I coached at Westfield High School, and in a little under two years, qualified more than 22 athletes for state championships as well as 2 national championship qualifying relays. My experience is extensive in all areas of running and track and Field. I am currently the Head Cross Country and Track Coach at Bay Path University, where I am building a program that will rival other Division III New England Colleges. As a professional runner, I earned top 30 finishes at the National Cross Country and Marathon Championships with a 2:23:22.
