Derrick Spafford has over 35 years of running and coaching experience. Derrick is a competitive runner who has competed in race distances from 800m to 100 miles, and multi-day stage races. He currently competes in trail, mountain, ultra and snowshoe running races and has numerous wins and podium finishes in races including Haliburton Forest 100 mile and Yukon Arctic Ultra. Derrick's passion for running is evident by the fact that he has not missed a day of running since December 1989.
Derrick is also a race director and freelance writer, with regular articles in Canadian Running Magazine. Spafford Health and Adventure also offers an online store with products that Derrick has fully tested and approved, including Dion Running Snowshoes, UltrAspire Hydration, Kahtoola MicroSpikes, Swiftwick Socks, S!Cap Electrolytes, Trail Toes body lube, and Natural Ice Lip Balm.
