Gravel racer. Mountain biker. Coach.
I've raced Leadville 100 and Unbound 200, and I bring that dirt-focused experience to every athlete I work with. From first-timers to World Cup qualifiers, I've helped riders perform beyond what they thought possible, on real schedules, with real lives.
Former Director of Education at TrainingPeaks, trained coaches worldwide with Joe Friel. Now I work with off-road athletes who want results without drowning in data.
Dave Schell / Kaizen Endurance Coaching
I live for the dirt. Whether I'm pinning a number at Leadville 100 or grinding through Unbound 200, mountain biking and gravel racing aren't just what I coach, they're how I spend my weekends. That shared experience is the foundation of how I work with athletes.
For over 15 years, I've helped riders of all levels achieve more than they thought possible, from first-timers crossing a 100-mile finish line to age group podiums and World Cup qualifiers. My approach blends the latest training science with the art of listening: to data, yes, but more importantly, to you.
As a full-time professional myself, I understand what it means to train on a real schedule. Squeezing performance out of limited time isn't a workaround, it's a skill, and it's one of the things I do best.
Before launching Kaizen Endurance, I served as Director of Education at TrainingPeaks, traveling the world with Joe Friel to teach coaches how to use data to plan, analyze, and track performance. I bring that same rigor to every athlete I work with, without burying you in numbers. I keep it simple, emphasize the mind-body connection, and focus on what actually moves the needle for off-road endurance athletes.
My goal is straightforward: find your limits, then help you push past them.
