Performance profiling has become invaluable for structuring effective training in all competitive endurance athletes. Simon Clark is the principal physiologist at CPS-In Motion, with extensive experience in the best practices of power/ heart rate based training and robust biometric analysis. Simon enjoys working with the most challenging of cases and closely supports individuals through each phase of periodisation through specific conditioning and into competition, to train beyond their limits!
My professional career started in the clinical life sciences working as a graduate biochemist and physiologist on human models of metabolism and disease. I moved to Verona, Italy in 2005 to develop experience in kinetic modelling and metabolic profiling in big pharma. After a few years of road racing there, I travelled to the US to continue training and ran the 2011 Boston Marathon. That summer I spent leading Rapha/La Fuga trips on some of the best roads (and nicest hotels!) in Europe. Having enjoyed sharing my cycling knowledge so much to guests, I transitioned across to full-time performance support/coaching, to help others achieve their potential. In 2013, I set-up performance assessment services for Cadence Performance, UK although my fate was always to provide high quality independent services under my own direction, and hence I established CPS In-Motion. I successfully support 10-12 clients per year at most, to give them my full attention using evidence-based practice and continue my 100% success rate.
My solid lifelong athletic history to elite level road racing and marathon ideally positions me for endurance training prescription and assessment in aspiring and established multi-sport athletes. I follow the BASES code of conduct, and I am working towards chartered scientist accreditation.
