Sarah Benson

Sarah specialises in track and road distance running for all ability levels. She offers personalised training programmes remotely and two weekly track sessions for local athletes.


Sarah is a former international track and road runner who specialised in the 3000m steeplechase. After retiring in 2014 from track running to start a family, she now enjoys recreational road running.

Sarah currently works for British Athletics where she manages the Paralympic Talent Development Programme helping support para athletes reach World Class Level and find new and emerging talent at grassroots level. She has developed an expertise in the talent development of young athletes over the last ten years both academically and professionally. She has a MSc in Strength & Conditioning Physiology and a BSc in Applied Sport Science both from the University of Edinburgh. Sarah has held previous positions as a Talent Scientist for the Scottish Institute of Sport and as the Talent Manager for British Gymnastics.

Sarah began coaching in 2014 after retiring from track racing. She is a fully qualified Athletics Coach with UKA and specialising in track and road distance running. Sarah is currently the Lead Endurance Coach for the Royal Air Force and also coaches young athletes with Bridgnorth AC in Shropshire.
