Joe O'Connor works with athletes of all abilities as a running, strength & conditioning and athletic performance coach. Both his academic and applied knowledge combine to provide his athletes with a fully individualized and scientifically based program. In the past 12 months his athletes have achieved personal best times at 5km, 8km, 10km, 10 mile, 1/2 Marathon, 15 mile & Marathon. These athletes range from weekend warriors to the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Joe O'Connor has competed as a middle distance runner since he was 10 years of age. While completing his undergraduate degree in Health, Fitness & Leisure Studies and applying current research methodologies he increased the competition range up to the marathon to walk the walk as such. Now a masters athlete predominately competing in middle distance races he also represents his club in events ranging from 4x400m to 10 km road races.
Since 2006 Joe has lectured in Exercise Physiology, Performance and Resistance Training. In the interim a Masters Degree in Exercise & Nutrition Science improved his holistic view on preparing athletes for training, competition and recovery.
