I am a USATF Level 2 Endurance coach, a veteran coach of top high school track and cross country athletes and elites, and an experienced coach of adults -- ranging from adults just trying to run for the first time, to masters elites and Boston Marathon qualifiers and ultra athletes. My athletes and I have fun, and I am always most inspired by the courage to try that all my athletes share. We like to keep it goofy and community-oriented at Without Limits
I have been trained myself (from a young age), and then as a coach, to use the latest scientific principles and training theories to help athletes of all levels -- beginners to post-collegiate elites/professionals -- to maximize their potential without wasting time or effort on workouts and training concepts that are traditional but have no real grounding in the science of coaching endurance athletes. I am also a student of the history of endurance training coaching -- Bowerman, Vigil, Daniels, Igloi, Cerutty, many others -- and have discovered that often what is old is new again; that coaches 50 years ago knew a lot of things intuitively that we are only just now getting scientific support. I believe in training to get faster, stronger, healthier, and to the degree possible, injury free. Injuries are part of the sport, and no coach can guarantee there won't be injuries, but coaches can do a lot to minimize the risk of injury -- especially from repetitive motion and stress injuries. I know this to be true: that the more consistent a runner is, and the longer they can go without getting hurt, the better they get at meeting their goals. And I love it when runners meet their goals.
