I'm a Level 2 USAC-Certified Cycling Coach and a Category 2 Road Racer who is eager to take on more clients over a multitude of abilities and disciplines. I started out my cycling career racing in the Little 500 at Indiana University in 2018 and quickly developed my craft as a coach through the Little 500 and criterium racing. Along with using data and empirical evidence to make informed training decisions, I am a trained counselor and use those skills to collaborate with clients towards goals.
I started out as a college soccer player at Cedarville University before transferring to Indiana University to finish my undergraduate studies. Once I was there, I became fascinated with the Little 500. Because I was a 5th-year senior wanting to race, it was unlikely I could join a team, so I made my own and served as the team's coach/rider for the 2018 race, where we finished 21st out of 33 teams.
Over the next few years, I soon began to build my coaching coach, frequently delving into exercise physiology literature, studying psychology as a graduate student at Indiana University, and trying training methodologies on myself, an avid criterium racer in the P1/2 field. I coach a range of athletes from the aspiring Cat 1s, to gravel racers, beginning and intermediate criterium racers, a regionally competitive Elite Women's Team, and track athletes.
I am one who believes in allowing your future goals to ultimately drive your training today, that is why I take a goal-oriented approach with all of my athletes. On top of that, I believe that understanding the "why" is critical so that the athlete can understand how each piece fits together to form a blueprint to achieve your goals.
My coaching revolves around getting the body stronger through weight training, proper nutrition, taking a long-term and strengths-based approach to training, prioritizing the strength of the coach-rider relationship, and discovering the joy of riding the bike! Let's connect if you are interested.
