Hechmann Sport is a testing center with 35 years of experience in testing and training planning for endurance athletes, particularly in middle- and long-distance running as well as cycling.
Hechmann Sport was founded by Claus Hechmann, himself a former elite athlete and now coach to several of the country’s top long-distance runners. His recipe for success is a varied form of training with an emphasis on easy sessions, designed to improve eachathlete’s endurance from beginer to professional
Claus Hechmann (b. 1964) is the owner of Hechmann Sport and Hechmann Running. He tests athletes and recreational sports enthusiasts from many disciplines—motocross, hockey, handball, and football—but primarily runners and cyclists. He has conducted tests and developed training plans for both elite athletes and recreational runners since 1995. He is the author of the books Run Like the Elite, Cycling Training, and The Running Book, published by Gyldendal.
Claus Hechmann is the personal coach of a wide range of Danish elite runners. He is known for his test-based approach to running and, through frequent testing of his athletes, has developed his own training system, the Hechmann Method, designed with one single goal in mind: to make you faster over long distances.
According to Claus Hechmann, you should not always push yourself to the limit, whether you are a recreational runner or an elite athlete. Training with many intensive intervals may lead to short-term improvements, but will almost always result in injuries and stagnation. The key to new personal records is instead to train.
Physiological Tests
Hechmann Sport takes pride in staying at the forefront of knowledge within endurance and speed training. The approach is scientific, and physiological tests are conducted so that training plans can be based on each athlete’s individual physiological data. The tests are carried out using advanced measuring equipment on a treadmill, bicycle, or with wireless devices outdoors.
