If your goal is to get fitter, start competing, or get faster, I can help. Want to improve your performance in time trial (TT), hill climb, road, track, cyclocross (CX), gravel or mountain bike (MTB) racing? Want to improve at duathlon/triathlon? Want to take on an epic endurance challenge? I will work with you to understand your goals, time constraints and current performance. I then plan a training programme for you and give you feedback as you progress. The rest is up to you!
I am a British Cycling Level 2 Coach and a Level 2 Training Peaks Coach, currently studying for my Level 3 British Cycling qualification. I am experienced in coaching athletes from beginner to national and international competition. I coach endurance athletes for sportives/audaxes like l’Etape du Tour, Marmotte, Haute Route, Ride London, Fred Whitton Challenge, Dartmoor Classic, Coast to Coast and Ride Across Britain (RAB)/Land’s End to John O’Groats (LEJOG). I coach athletes competing at regional and national level in road, criterium, track, TT, CX and MTB racing, including athletes from junior up to veterans of 60+ (all of which have different challenges). I’m a seasoned coach of triathletes and duathletes competing at local, national and international AG level from sprint to Ironman 70.3.
I am an experienced cyclist taking part in road and off-road sportives, time trials, road and circuit/crit races, hill climbs, cyclocross and track. I have achieved TT World Championships AG qualification and national Open TT podiums.
I have a scientific background, with a physics degree and PhD, so the qualitative aspect of training and performance analysis is natural for me. My background in ‘hard’ science means I also recognise the limitations of data when applied to humans, and the importance of qualitative feedback and feelings. I have immersed myself in sports physiology and psychology, bike fitting, power-based training, aerodynamics, time trial pacing and road racing strategy.
