I'm a life-long cyclist and bike racer and enjoy helping people progress in the sport I love. I favor a good amount of structure in training plans. I also favor interval work, some of it on a stationary trainer which is a consistent training venue. Road training and racing are important and a foundation or most of my training plans, but seriously specific and challenging intervals are what I use to get people to higher fitness. I also favor a good amount of racing as training for achieving the goals of the season, be they peak fitness for a specific event or reaching a specific fitness metric. I believe less in volume (miles/hours) and more in shorter intense workouts. I believe in off-the-bike strength training. I believe diet and body weight must be part of the equation to improvement. I don't sugar coat. I tell clients what I really think about where they are, how they are doing, and what I think they need to do to get better. I offer praise when it's deserved, but also information on how things could have been done better, as improving is generally always possible and a goal. I encourage reasonable dedication to completing training plans. I dedicate myself to designing a plan that should bring improvements and hold myself accountable to seeing results. Seeing results makes it all worth it. Training is sometimes very hard, but fun is always the most vital consideration. Most everyone I know rides mostly for the fun. Thus, I try to put a good amount of fun in training plans. It's also true that achieving results is fun. Let me help you have some fun!
