Clive is an endurance coach with over 20 years’ experience working with runners and triathletes across a wide performance spectrum. His coaching is defined by sound training methodology, long-term progression, and disciplined judgement under fatigue. Programmes are shaped around the realities of demanding professional and family lives, informed by both elite athletic experience and senior leadership roles
Clive works with endurance athletes who want to train seriously, progress sustainably, and perform well over time. His coaching approach is grounded in a deep understanding of training adaptation, load management, and progression — with programmes shaped not only by performance goals, but by real-world constraints such as work, travel, and family responsibility.
He is a TrainingPeaks Level 2 Certified Coach, a UKA Certified Coach, and a former IRONMAN U Founder Member Coach. Over two decades of coaching, Clive has supported athletes from their earliest participation through to marathon and IRONMAN finishes, while also guiding experienced competitors to podium results across track, road, and cross-country disciplines.
Athletically, Clive brings first-hand experience across both speed and endurance. Earlier in his career he competed as an elite middle-distance runner, recording personal bests of 3:46 for 1500m and 14:10 for 5km. His background includes a national 1500m title, UK Universities medals, and multiple county cross-country victories. In later years, he transitioned to long-distance triathlon, including a 7th place age-group finish at the European Long-Distance Triathlon Championships.
Alongside sport, Clive has spent many years in senior, quota-carrying leadership roles within large organisations. That experience underpins how he works with athletes balancing ambition with responsibility — applying restraint, perspective, and judgement as deliberately as progression.
