Coach Bio

No matter level of experience or past success, if you have a passion for endurance sports and want to find enjoyment while seeking your true potential, let me help guide you there. I have been coaching in one fashion or another since I was 15 years old, and have worked with athletes of ALL levels. Do I have some top level elite athletes on my roster, absolutely, but do I take equal (if not more) joy from guiding a first time triathlete to their first Sprint triathlon finish? Without a doubt.

My name is Geoffrey Woodman, though most just call me Geo.
I am an all sports endurance coach that spends most of my time specializing in triathlon and running of all distances/levels. I am based in Detroit, Michigan where I split my time between working with personal training clients, coaching group fitness classes in the functional fitness/CrossFit realm, and directing a wonderful all levels training/racing group under my company Better Woodman Performance.

I found my way into the endurance sports world in a way, at a very early age. I told my grandfather while watching the epic "Iron War" battle between Mark Allan and Dave Scott in 1989 where I told my grandfather: "I'll do that one day". Fast forward to after the conclusion of a college baseball career, and triathlon/marathon were what I found to keep me healthy and keep my competitive juices going. I have been coaching swimming, baseball, football, and running for most of my life so my transition to coaching triathlon/marathon/ultra runners, and adventure athletes of all sorts came somewhat naturally.

My biggest philosophy is really about using science/metrics balanced with getting to know my athletes in order to find their peak potential. I have credentials in triathlon, running, biomechanics/running kinematics, run form/gate analysis, group fitness & personal training. I would love the opportunity to help you find deep enjoyment AND reach your peak potential in your sport(s) of choice.
