Joe Bergantine is an IRONMAN Certified Coach, USAC Cycling Coach, certified Yoga Instructor, and NSCA certified CSCS Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Coaching cyclists, mountain bikers and triathletes competing in sprint to full-distance triathlon (including Ironman 70.3 and Ironman 140.6) and gran fondo / cyclosportive, marathon mountain bike, and cyclocross (CX). Providing mentoring, guidance, and structure to help get others into, and succeed at, competitive adult sport participation.
I spent most of my early 20s skiing or mountain biking every weekend, believing that exercise could only happen outdoors, preferably on a slope or dirt trail, and that gyms are where the soul went to die. I found yoga through physical therapy, an appreciation for the gym through group fitness camaraderie, and structured, periodized training through participation in Ironman triathlon.
In 2014 I shifted gears from marketing to the outdoor industry to working with a tech startup in the health and fitness field which turned into a veritable master’s project in biomechanics and kinesiology and lead to my desire to expand my knowledge of the application of exercise science. I completed my 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training and certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. In 2016 I shifted gears again to help launch a functional fitness studio. I became certified as a cycling coach and lead indoor cycling and yoga classes.
In 2013 I started training for Ironman, despite a complete inability to swim. I persevered and the pursuit of triathlon has since become a lifestyle for which I have traveled around the world to participate.
My background in data science and programming provides a foundational understanding of quantitative performance metrics while working remotely in the tech industry has taught me how to collaborate from across time zones and continents. I want to help you succeed whether you are beginning to train for your first endurance event or your thirtieth.
