I am a USAC level 2 cycling coach, with over 23 years experience in mountain bike, cyclocross, and road racing. I have competed in 135 races throughout my racing career. I will create a custom training plan for you that will help you realize your potential as an endurance athlete and successfully accomplish your goals.
I started riding mountain bikes in 1993, while still in high school, and fell in love with it immediately. I mountain biked pretty regularly until college, but then switched to the road in college due to a lack of trail networks available. In 1999 I attempted to ride across the United States, starting in San Francisco, but a right knee injury derailed my plans. I was diagnosed with an improperly tracking patella and went through many months of physical therapy. A professional bike fit resolved a lot of the knee problems, but they still persist today and have greatly impacted my ability to race and train like I want to. In 2008 I was struck by an automobile while on a training ride, suffering a broken back and a serious concussion (as well as numerous other superficial injuries). It took me over a year to get back on the bike and it took me 4 years total to return to the racing scene again. Due to these two injuries, I have not been able to reach the level of racing that I feel I am capable of. But I have over 23 years of cycling experience, and I've competed in over 134 races since 2005 (with 4 of those years spent recovering from my serious accident). 98 of those races have been since my comeback that started in 2012. I love all things cycling related. Ultimately, one day, I would like to complete an IRONMAN triathlon. But since I have to balance cycling with my family life, as a parent of 2 young girls with a baby on the way, the IRONMAN will have to wait a few years.
