I have been involved in the trail and mountain ultra scene for many years and still regularly compete myself.
I started working with athletes seriously fifteen years ago.
I have held a current EA Fell & Mountain Running (Athletics Coach) Licence for over ten years
In 2017 I completed a Certificate of Higher Education in Sports Fitness Coaching.
In the 2021/22 academic year I completed a Bachelors degree in the same topic.
Other qualifications include an advanced S&C award.
Training Peaks Level 1 & 2 Coach certificates.
My athletes range from absolute beginners, park runners, a club champion fell racer, first time ultra runners, and a Cape Wrath and Dragons Back competitor. Recently we have had several podiums in mountain ultras.
September 2026 will see our second Bob Graham of the year, the RAB Mountain Goat and the George Fisher Round all completed by athletes from our stable.
I like to promote a friendly relationship with athletes and provide as much support and guidance as I can.
My athletes have described me as knowledgeable, honest and hardworking, inspiring, keen and supportive. I found these comments very humbling but I'm a great believer in the value of feedback.
