Coaching is about connecting with athletes of all different abilities and levels and helping them identify their strengths and areas of development. In doing this, athletes will continue to have success in their endeavors and will develop into stronger athletes and individuals. With ATC, we'll work together to tackle new goals, push through current barriers, and raise your physical and mental capabilities.
Alden Basmajian is the head coach at AldenTris Coaching. Alden has been involved in coaching since 2009. An avid runner turned triathlete, Alden has worked with athletes in high school to seasoned veterans as they look to achieve new fitness goals. As a teacher and coach, Alden firmly believes in educating his athletes and not just training them. Each workout has a purpose in order to maximize training time and promote overall fitness and development.
As an athlete, Alden has received USAT All-American honors each since 2013, achieved personal bests in marathon distance of 2:44, half-iron distance of 4:06, and iron distance of 9:08. He still competes on a regular basis, forming his season with a run base before transitioning to triathlons for the middle part of the year. He was the #1 triathlete in NJ for his age group in 2017 before relocating to VA.
Located in Richmond, VA, Alden works with local and remote athletes equally. Training is what the athlete and coach can put into it with open communication lines, dedication to a common purpose, and commitment to setting sights on season goals. He enjoys working with new athletes in running or triathlon just the same as experienced athletes. Each person has his or her own level and that is what is exciting about coaching. He enjoys seeing the excitement at the finish line, hearing the joy in successful workouts and races, and knowing that his athletes can continue to improve and have fun.
