Outside Magazine Names TrainingPeaks Among Best Places to Work

BOULDER, CO – AUGUST 1, 2013 – TrainingPeaks today was named to Outside Magazine’s sixth annual “Best Places to Work” list. This is the third year the company has made the list, and this year TrainingPeaks was ranked No. 21 out of 100 selected companies. The full list of the top-ten-performing small, medium, and large companies will be published online on August 1 atOutsideOnline.com/bestplacestowork.

Outside’s “Best Places to Work” project celebrates the innovative companies setting a new standard for a healthy work-life balance. The list was compiled with the help of the Outdoor Industry Association and Best Companies Group. The year long selection process began with an outreach effort that identified a wide range of non-profit and for-profit organizations with at least 15 employees working in an office in the United States. Participating companies were sent confidential employee-satisfaction surveys and employer-questionnaires to collect information about benefits, compensation, policies, job satisfaction, environmental initiatives, and community outreach programs. The experts at the Best Companies Group then analyzed the results and selected the companies that best enable employees to pursue active lifestyles while also supporting their social and environmental contributions.

This year’s “Best Places To Work” list will highlight not only the Top 100 companies, but will also spotlight those on the list that offer the best perks, including “Fitness-Friendly” companies, those with the most liberal “Flex Time” policies, the “Best Travel Perks”, and those with the “Best Office Culture.”

“We’re proud to publicize the efforts of these 100 companies,” said Outside editor Christopher Keyes. “They each show a real commitment to creating active, healthy work environments and put a premium on innovative benefits. Year after year, Outside‘s Best Places to Work program demonstrates that America’s most successful companies are the ones that consistently promote true work-life balance for their employees.”

TrainingPeaks makes web, mobile and desktop training products for triathletes, cyclists and runners. The company actively seeks not only individuals who are qualified in their professional fields, but who are dedicated endurance athletes and coaches who can relate with lifestyle and perspective of their users.

Last fall, the company announced a significant expansion of its headcount from approximately 30 employees to 50 in an effort to redesign all of its products, from web to mobile to desktop. On Tuesday,TrainingPeaks released its brand new iOS app, and CEO/co-founder Gear Fisher publicly announced that the launch of the all-new TrainingPeaks.com and WKO+ products will take place in October 2013.

Fisher says, “To make the list of Outside’s best places to work for the past three out of four years is not only a huge honor, but it’s an affirmation that throughout our growth and the new directions we’ve taken, we’re still doing the same thing we set out to do when we founded this company in 1999: helping athletes achieve their dreams. This goes for our athlete and coach customers as well as our own employees.”

He continues, “We have never been VC funded, and we have never had the strategy to grow this business only to sell it off one day. We [Fisher and co-founder Dirk Friel, who is the company’s Chief Evangelist] are in this for the long haul, and that’s why we created the work environment we have – because we want our employees to feel like they could be in this for the long haul, too. I’m proud of the talented and passionate team we have on board to take TrainingPeaks to the next level with our new products in October.”

Located in the endurance sports mecca of Boulder, Co. and surrounded by miles of cycling- and runner-friendly roads, TrainingPeaks offers its employees a fully-stocked kitchen with organic fruits, flexible schedules that allow for lunchtime rides and runs, an annual fitness incentive of $1200 per year, a gym with top of the line equipment, on-site locker rooms and showers, towel service, and a dog-friendly work environment.
