Introducing the New TrainingPeaks iOS Mobile App
July 30, 2013 | Gear Fisher
Today I’m proud to announce the release of our totally revamped, all-new mobile app for iOS. As you will see from the completely new design, it represents a radical departure from our past products. This is the first new product delivered by our design-led engineering team. Since we added UI/UX capabilities to our new team this past fall, we have relentlessly focused on bringing you beautiful, intuitive and simple applications that do just what you need – and today’s release is just the start.
You’ll find the infinite scroll interface in the new TrainingPeaks iOS app lets you quickly see your past workouts and your future plans. We have also added select Dashboard charts to quantify your efforts including planned and completed distance, duration and TSS; and made inputting your workout data as simple as possible.
Coaches will appreciate the ability to view their clients’ data, schedule workouts manually, or add workouts from their libraries (Premium athletes will also be able to plan workouts from their libraries).
We have made certain changes to nutrition from the previous version. For now, nutrition will be view-only in the iOS app and we have discontinued barcode scanning. However, you can still use trainingpeaks.com/m for previously available nutrition tracking features on your mobile device, and full nutrition capabilities are available on the web.
More to Come
Available now for iPhone and iPad, the new TrainingPeaks mobile app is a dramatic improvement over our previous installment, and this is just the start. We’ll be adding deeper workout details, full nutrition tracking and much more in the near future. We’re also already hard at work on an Android version to be released later this year.
If you have followed my posts from the past, you know we’ve been working on revamping all of our products including mobile, web and desktop; but the big question has been when our users can expect the new TrainingPeaks experience. Today, I’m publicly announcing that we are targeting a major re-launch of TrainingPeaks.com and our desktop analysis software, WKO+ for October 2013. The release of our new mobile app is just the start of great things to come for our customers.
If you already have the TrainingPeaks mobile app for iOS, look for an update notification from the App Store in the next couple days. To download the free app for the first time, visit the iTunes store. For any questions regarding the functionality of the new app please visit our support page. I look forward to hearing your feedback about the new app, and I hope you’re as excited as I am about the great things to come this October.
