Athlete Journeys

Real people, real progress.

Every athletic endeavor starts with a calling. The voice in your head that says, “I think I can.” These are the stories of athletes who not only dream, but do.

Casey Serrano

For me, running hasn’t just been a part of my life; it’s been absent completely. I’ve never been drawn to the “get up and go for a run” lifestyle, but after getting the equivalent of a C- on an annual health checkup, I decided I should at least do the bare minimum and start exercising. The next day, I bought a $5 beginner running training plan and got to work.

Every time I finish a workout or run further than I thought I ever could, I’m reminded that all it takes is a first step. The decision to “just go” continues to push me towards new steps in my training journey every day.

Sierra de Grasse

I’ve built my journey around multi-sport training, pushing my limits across endurance and strength. A year ago, I struggled to run 5 miles—now, I’ve tackled ultras, 100+ mile bike races, Hyrox, and a 70.3, proving that growth comes from consistency, not just talent. My training philosophy is about balance—pushing hard while staying sustainable, evolving without burning out.

But my journey isn’t just about personal goals—it’s about the people I train with, the events I help create, and the community that keeps me accountable. Supporting others in their own pursuits challenges me to keep showing up, stay motivated, and lead by example. I aspire to inspire, and I constantly remind myself and others: I am capable.

If you’re doubting what’s possible, I’ve been there—and I promise, you can do more.

My name is Felicia. I’m a percussionist with the Colorado Wind Ensemble and spent 11 years teaching music. In 2020, I left the classroom and entered the music industry, and now I manage the Events Team for Alfred Music and MakeMusic.

I’m a swimmer-turned-triathlete, and last year I completed Escape from Alcatraz. I loved the adventure of it, so for 2025 I decided to race Otillo Casco Bay.

I love being outdoors, especially near water. Hiking, paddleboarding, biking, running, swimming…bonus points if my dog can join. And if you can sprinkle in a dose of competition, I’m all in.
