Last weeked was my second triathlon, both were sprint distances. On my first event last year, I drank only gatorade during the bike segment and felt very thirsty during the run, I carry on my bike 2 24oz bottles. I though it as the Gatorade that gave that effect. So this year, I filled one bottle with water and the second with sport drink (Infinit). By the end of the bike segment, both bottle were empty yet I was still very thirsty and had to stop along the course to take water. I drank plenty of water the days prior to the race. Should I be droping the sport drink?
PS. Both race were done at around 15-18 Celsius.
Well I missed 2 weeks of training due to illness and recovery from it. I did however my first triathlon this year (2nd to date in my life) with the objective to only complete it, to try out my new wetsuit and to experiment transitions with new fast lacing system. Did not break any record, found out I am real poor at sigthing and now bike seems to have become my weakness.
This being said, this week was my last of my base3 mesocycle. According to the Training Bible, I should dial back a mesocycle for the 2 weeks of training I have missed. I was planning to do this week my T-Pace workout for the 3 disciplins, and next week restart my base3 mesocycle, while adjusting the volume and intensity based on this week T-Pace workouts.
Am I doing the right thing or should I go back to base2?
How does one knows if prepared enough and fitness is adequate so to adjust the later weeks in preparation for my A race in mid-september? (Olympic distance).
Thank you Karen
I will do that. Do little work out and see how it goes.
