which foods to eat, which ones to avoid

Hi i am in the beginning stages of my training for a marathon. It will be my 1st. I dont really know exactly which types of foods i should eat and which types of foods i should avoid. In reality i would love for someone to just say this is what you need to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It would make it so much easier. I have gained about 10 pounds over the past 8 months, and i just cant seem to get those 10 pounds off. Do you have any suggestions for me?
